God is a black woman!!
No, I'm not running a campaign for all the anti-racists and feminists out there. Well, actually, the idea struck when a girl I know had had three boyfriends before I had my first. She wore glasses! I always thought that guys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses. Guess I was wrong. Since time immemorial, mankind has been plagued by illogical, impractical, and absurd misconceptions. I mean, who ever said that men don't cry? It's a natural, biological reaction... men have to cry! It's quite presumptuous of us to say, "all blondes are dumb", or "macho men are insensitive." Generalizations like that just don't work. Hey, macho man, Arnie must have been pretty high in sensitivity to play `mom' in `Junior'. All the intelligent kids at school aren't necessarily nerds and the girl next door, isn't always a plain Jane. And of course to all you hopeless romantics who believe in the proverbial happy ending --- it doesn't exist!!

Over Drive

If G.M. had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with these characteristics:

· For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash twice a day.
· Every time they repainted the lines on the road you'd have to buy a new car.
· Occasionally, your car would refuse to start, in which case you'd have to reinstall the engine.
· The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would be replaced by a single "general car default" warning light.
· New seats would force everyone to have the same size butt.
· The airbag system would say "Are you sure?" before going off.
· You'd press the "start" button to shut off the engine.

Hunchback babies
Distorted, disproportionate, and ugly...all because of a school bag! Those big, heavy books, filled with monotony, stuffed into a bag and carried by a small frame, makes us kids feel like we're carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders. Trudging to school with a bag that weighs as much as I do has become an eternal nightmare. I can just see it now, a world in the future, where all kids look exactly like the Hunchback of Notre Dame. We know that school is important, but is it important enough to spark the evolution of a whole new species of hunchback children? Don't you adults realise that we are little boys and girls who need to play? In your day and age you were able to skip to school. Now give us the chance.

PERSONAE
Zohar Lokhandwala
"To be better than my
mentor," is Zohar's ambition, and at all of 18 years, he is well on his way to fame and fortune. His first major theatrical production opened to a very appreciative audience on the 25th of July 1998. `Hide in the Habit' is an adaptation of the movie `Sister Act.' The play was a very entertaining comedy accompanied by scintillating music, got the audience swinging. Zohar's association with Speed dates back to 1991. He acted in a number of plays, but decided that he preferred being the one in charge. He left Speed in 1996, only to find that, "I missed my roots because my inspiration started with Speed." After his H.S.C, Zohar came back to Speed and did a one on one, designer workshop on direction, lighting, and sound with Poonam Sareen and marketing with Vandana Sarin. He feels that, "we are all sent to Earth for a purpose _ all you have to do is find out what it is." Zohar is now off to America to study and further his career as a director.
All the best Zohar!

One morning when I woke up, I was horrified to see that my hands were full of gum. I thought that someone had played a 0nasty prank on me and I had a couple of suspects in mind. This happened for 3 days consecutively and finally I decided to stay up all night to catch the prankster. It was then that I realized that it wasn't gum that was on my hands, but just my skim peeling off!!

The Value of Friendship Aarti Basantani, 9 yrs
I have a very close friend called Chandini. Apart from bringing joy to my life, her friendship has ingrained very important values in me. Our friendship goes beyond just fun and spending time with each other. It is about loyalty, sharing our joys and sorrows, maturity, trust and being there for each other. I am very grateful to her for teaching me such a valuable lesson.
